Business Operations Manager

MDC Associates ('MDC') is a full-service CRO dedicated to supporting innovators and entrepreneurs bringing In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) and Medical Devices to market that impact the lives of millions of patients around the world. Initially founded to provide Regulatory and Quality guidance, we identified a need for highly skilled Clinical Affairs, Clinical Operations, and Data Management services and built our CRO to best ensure our client's success. We're proud of our 35+ year track record providing guidance and resources that have helped to deliver next-generation advances in microbiology, clinical chemistry, infectious disease and companion diagnostics (CDx) that contribute to a healthier world. We are seeking a Business Operations Manager. This key commercial team member serves as the key point of connection between business development and MDCs service teams to develop budget and timeline proposals tailored to our clients needs. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, timeliness and collaborative approach in order to effectively deliver. Primary Responsibilities

  • Build rapport with Business Development, Project Management, Finance, Regulatory, Clinical, and Quality teams at MDC.

  • Ability to translate inputs from client meetings into tailored budget estimates, statements of work, letters of engagement, and general services agreements.

  • Ability to utilize and improve upon templated budget calculators to build client estimates.

  • Drive delivery of requests for proposals (RFPs) in conjunction with MDCs internal teams.

  • Work with Business Development and Service teams to develop proposals and deliver them to prospective client.

  • Familiarity with MDCs service capabilities, especially execution of clinical services projects.

  • Successfully transition closed deals to project teams to ensure a seamless client experience.

  • Ensure records in the companys CRM are kept current at all times.

  • Perform other duties as company expands and the needs of the organization change.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; biology, chemistry, clinical or science related discipline preferred.

  • Masters degree or higher in science related discipline and/or MBA preferred.

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience developing detailed proposals for clients.

  • Ability to improve upon given templates and gain alignment across teams.

  • Preferred: experience in consulting services and/or manufacturing within in vitro diagnostics, medical devices, and/or pharmaceuticals.

  • Positive team-player with strong desire to 'win'.

  • Must be a team player with the ability to engage and influence cross-functional team members.

  • Be curious and have a growth mindset! Proactively seek to learn about our clients, the markets they serve, and from our subject matter experts.

  • Ability to interpret request for proposals, understand and manage proposal development for clients.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet business goals.

  • Understanding of pricing models and strategies, including gross margins.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to quickly understand MDCs approach and culture.

  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines while working independently. Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and project management capabilities.

  • Mastery of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Powerpoint, Excel), Google Meetup and Zoom.

  • Preferred: Experience with contractual terms and conditions.

  • Preferred: Experience utilizing CRM systems.

  • Preferred: Understanding of IVD product development and stage-gate process, familiarity with U.S. FDA, IVDR, UKCA and/or Health Canada IVD guidelines, clinical trial management, and experience using quality management systems.

Pay

  • Base Salary:$125,000-135,000

  • Performance Bonus:$10,000-15,000

  • Equity:Employee Stock Options.

Location and Travel

  • Position can be located in-office (Beverly, MA), hybrid or remote

  • Up to 10% US and international travel. Reasons for travel may include, but are not limited to:

    • Client site visits

    • Medical and scientific conferences

    • Company offsites

    • Vendor / Partner meetings

    • Scheduled time in corporate office for team meetings, as requested.
