In 1954, architect Eero Saarinen designed a radically modern bank branch for Irwin Union in Columbus, Indiana. With glass walls, no private offices, and a floor plan that invited openness, it embodied a new kind of transparency in finance. The building was surrounded by trees, furnished by Herman Miller, and featured rustic brick flooring. Today, that space is a conference center, and that spirit of design-forward thinking in banking feels almost extinct.

Mercury believes that level of care and craft in design has been lost in modern finance and we’re building a brand that brings it back. We're a financial technology company building products that feel extraordinary to use, helping people and businesses accomplish more with their money by turning banking* from a frustration into a catalyst for their ambitions.

We’re looking for a hands-on designer to help shape how Mercury shows up visually, emotionally, and creatively across every touchpoint. Someone who thrives in a highly collaborative environment where the best ideas drive progress, not the most powerful voices in the room.

*Mercury is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services provided through Choice Financial Group, Column N.A., and Evolve Bank & Trust, Members FDIC.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Support Mercury’s marketing and product teams by creating thoughtful, polished graphic design assets for product launches, internal events, social media, and various production initiatives.

  • Collaborate closely with senior designers and cross-functional partners, quickly adapting across diverse projects and refining your work through feedback and iteration.

  • Assist in producing illustrations and graphics to enhance storytelling and content projects.

  • Actively participate in setting the vision for Mercury's brand by supporting the execution of creative concepts.

  • Grow your skills in motion design, exploring new creative techniques to elevate Mercury’s visual storytelling and expanding your skillset.

  • Balance multiple projects with adaptability, maintaining strong organizational skills and attention to detail even when context-switching.

What you’ll bring:

  • 2-4 years of professional experience in graphic design, ideally within marketing, brand design, or related creative fields.

  • A versatile portfolio demonstrating foundational design skills, clear visual communication, creativity across various mediums, and interest in exploring motion graphics or 3D.

  • Proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and an eagerness to grow your skills in motion design (After Effects) and 3D software (Cinema 4D, Blender).

  • Curiosity, ambition, and enthusiasm for growth, with a willingness to learn, experiment, and take initiative in your creative career.

  • Excellent organizational abilities with the skill to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, openness to feedback, and excitement about collaborative problem-solving.

The total rewards package at Mercury includes base salary, equity (stock options), and benefits.

Our salary and equity ranges are highly competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and are updated regularly using the most reliable compensation survey data for our industry. New hire offers are made based on a candidate’s experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity relative to peers.

Our target new hire base salary ranges for this role are the following:

  • US employees in New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle: $97,400 - $106,900

  • US employees outside of New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle: $87,700 - $98,600

  • Canadian employees (any location): CAD $92,000 - $103,600
