Benefits Audit Consultant

What the day will look like

  • Serve as the primary auditor of absence projects in leave, disability, life, and other leave of absence product lines, including:
  • Obtain understanding of project scope requirements and needs with internal colleagues
  • Review documentation of client and carrier to understand plan provisions, processes, and special handling instructions, as applicable
  • Ensure claim selection is done per client request and/or plan design
  • Independently perform an end-to-end review of claim management or system configuration with administrator, document findings in audit tool and other notes, and identify claim errors against best practice
  • Manage data errors and carrier responses in database
  • Review reports of audit results with analysis of findings, with potential to expand to writing audit results in reports
  • Regular active involvement in audit activities, comprehensive of maintaining project and lead tracking, drafting and issuance of a variety of audit documents to the assigned administrator, working with technical colleagues for claim audits, and testing of audit tools
  • Participate in various internal and external meetings, including audit scope identification, administrator kick-off calls, administrator operational assessments, and client report delivery
  • Builds productive working relationships with peers and higher-level professionals internally and externally to exchange information and make recommendations
  • May provide guidance and training to process-oriented colleagues
  • Chance to lead smaller projects with supervision by someone senior and to work on issues of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors, with the ability to provide advisory services to clients and other consultants regarding industry best practices
  • Promotes opportunities for cost savings, productivity improvement, and revenue generation
  • Possesses an awareness of larger team/department strategies and customer needs
  • Applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues

This Aon Auditor position is within an exclusive subset of the Health Solutions division. The specialized team of time away and life solutions auditors allows for a wide breath of exposure and unlimited opportunities to expand on knowledge and further career advancement.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • 2+ years of appropriate leave, disability, and/or life experience
  • Strong understanding of absence lines, including but not limited to FML, STD, LTD, Life/AD&D, ADA, or statutory leaves
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Audit experienced desired
  • Good communication and listening skills with well-developed writing and verbal skills
  • Education:Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of industry experience.

The target salary range for this position is $58,000 to $75,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans. The amount of the incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
