Behaviorist Job Description

Resolution Think, LLC is looking for a highly skilled behaviorist specialist with the necessary training and experience to support groups and systems through the application of positive behavior supports. The behavior specialist assists in the coordination of functional assessments of behavior and a behavior intervention plan that address clients' behaviors and provide a means of support to assist them in achieving their objectives and minimizing negative behaviors.

Job Description:

The Behaviorist Specialist plays a crucial role in designing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating comprehensive behavior support programs. This professional will work closely with individuals, staff, and other stakeholders to develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) to promote positive behavioral change and help clients achieve their personal goals.

This role requires direct and proactive engagement with assigned clients, ensuring individualized interventions and support plans align with best practices in behavioral health. Payment of services is based on a minimum of 12 hours per month and a maximum of 20 hours on the anniversary of the client for report development.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Program Development & Implementation:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) to enhance client success.

  • Collaborate with staff to define, measure, and modify behaviors using research-based reinforcement strategies.

  • Ensure interventions align with positive behavior support (PBS) principles and best practices.

  • Regularly assess and adjust behavior plans based on client progress and new assessment data.

Client Support & Training:

  • Work closely with clients, families, and direct support professionals (DSPs) to ensure consistent application of behavior strategies.

  • Provide direct behavioral therapy to clients, focusing on improving functional, communication, and social skills.

  • Train and guide staff in crisis intervention, de-escalation strategies, and classroom/behavioral management techniques to maintain a safe environment.

  • Offer ongoing support, coaching, and consultation to caregivers and teams for effective intervention strategies.

Data Collection & Compliance:

  • Utilize assessment tools to track client progress, adjust treatment goals, and ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational guidelines.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and complete required reports, including behavioral data, assessments, and incident reports.

  • Ensure compliance with Resolution Think, LLC and regional center mandates, including restraint, seclusion, and safety protocols.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), positive reinforcement, and behavioral modification techniques.

  • Ability to assess behavior triggers and implement proactive interventions.

  • Expertise in crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies to manage high-risk behaviors.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to document and report client progress effectively.

  • Ability to train and mentor support staff in implementing behavior support strategies.

  • Demonstrated capacity to work both independently and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Required: Bachelors Degree (or higher) in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field OR a valid Collegiate Professional Certificate or Postgraduate Professional Certificate.

  • Preferred: Masters Degree in a behavioral or mental health-related discipline from an accredited institution.

  • Experience in working with individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral challenges, or mental health disorders is highly preferred.

Technical & Software Proficiency:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Internet (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and behavior tracking systems (e.g., Therap Software) is preferred.

  • Ability to use online assessment tools and behavior tracking applications for client progress monitoring.
