Associate General Counsel
About the Role
As the Associate General Counsel, you will provide advice and assistance on a wide range of legal matters including corporate governance and transactions, product, ads/marketing, intellectual property, commercial contracts, compliance, and other areas. You will be part of a small but mighty, fast-moving, agile, high-energy and collaborative legal team that impacts the company’s internet platform and other aspects of its business.
As the Associate General Counsel, you'll leverage your strong interpersonal skills, business judgment expertise, and strategic thinking to work closely with finance, product, marketing, business development, and other cross-functional teams to provide legal counsel on various issues. What You’ll Do
Respond promptly and effectively to legal issues and requests from internal functions.
Advise various teams with respect to laws and regulations applicable to the company’s business and platform and assist teams in evaluating legal risks.
Drive and advise on corporate and entity governance and securities matters, including board meetings, stock administration, investor matters, and scaling a corporate governance program.
Oversee and manage the legal team’s product/go-to-market, marketing/advertising, intellectual property, and commercial contract functions.
Provide advice with respect to privacy and intellectual property matters.
Assist with litigation and disputes involving the company.
Support the human resources, customer support, and expert marketplace operations as needed.
Develop, roll out, and train employees on legal issues and company policies and compliance programs.
Own legal projects from end to end, operating independently and efficiently in a dynamic environment.
What We’re Looking For
12+ years of relevant legal experience with ability to work both independently and with a team, including law firm experience and a minimum of 3 years in-house experience at a technology or e-commerce company.
Direct management experience leading other attorneys and support staff.
Strong background in corporate law, corporate governance and transactions, product counseling, commercial and go-to-market legal functions, regulatory compliance, and consumer protection.
Experience working on class action litigation and consumer protection issues.
Proven experience communicating complex and nuanced legal issues using common sense language that is both approachable and easy to digest.
Excellent written and verbal language skills are required.
