Associate Director Production - Axios Live
Quick take: Axios Live is in a growth-stage dedicated to providing trustworthy, award-winning news content in an audience-first format. We're hiring an Associate Director of Production, Axios Live to lead the creation and execution of our editorial events — both in-person and virtual — and help shape the future of Axios Live.
Go deeper: Production is what makes events happen. We're looking for a dynamic and experienced Associate Director of Production who will be a driving force behind some of the biggest Axios moments — from headline-making interviews in D.C. to global conversations abroad. In this high-impact role, you'll own the execution of Axios events across the country and internationally, ensuring world-class production quality, innovation, and seamless delivery.
You’ll lead the charge on multiple events per month with simultaneous timelines, overseeing all production operations including pre-production logistics, livestream execution, vendor coordination, show-calling, stage management, and post-event editing. Beyond logistics, you’ll mentor rising talent, collaborate in the creative process, and play a key role in the growth and evolution of the production team as we continue to scale and innovate.
The details: Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial and creative spirit, a passion for Axios’ mission, and a commitment to excellence. You should have:
5+ years of high-volume, fast-paced event production experience
Self-starter mentality with a passion for innovation
Strong organizational and time management skills
Strong vendor management skills and a trusted network of production partners
Demonstrated ability to manage and negotiate event budgets with limited supervision
Experience in show-calling, stage management, and producing live (in-person or virtual), open-press events
Ability to clip video footage using Adobe Premiere Pro under tight deadlines
Strong proficiency in Adobe Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects)
Creative thinking around asset design and set fabrication
Confidence in communicating with executive-level and high-profile newsmakers
A calm, problem-solving mindset in high-pressure environments
Desire to work hard, contribute to a collaborative team, and grow professionally
Willingness to travel regularly
Flexibility for early mornings and late nights as needed
Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Wrike) is a plus
Why it matters: This is more than a production job — it's a chance to shape the stories that shape the world, mentor the next generation of producers, and bring bold ideas to life with a team that thrives on collaboration, speed, and integrity.
