About the job
This position is needed to process and respond to government agency requests for information from around the world, with a focus on Japan-based matters. In this role, you’ll be a member of our tight-knit team of legal professionals and report to our Associate Managing Paralegal, Law Enforcement Response. The ideal candidate for this position will be a team player who lives the Twilio Magic!
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
Review and process Japanese police requests, including by reviewing and logging request details and documents into our internal government request case management system, drafting accurate, professional responses to law enforcement inquiries in Japanese, and mailing physical letter responses to the police;
Receive and handle phone calls from Japanese law enforcement agents;
Respond to government requests for information from around the world—including subpoenas, court orders, search warrants, and emergency disclosure requests—in strict accordance with Twilio’s procedures and policies, and applicable law;
Assist with high-volume data and document management, and other organizational projects;
Identify opportunities to streamline and improve inter- and intra-team processes and procedures;
Find opportunities to develop your passions and skills!

*Required:
Business-level fluency in both Japanese and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Be a self-starter who works effectively on a geographically dispersed team, including by exhibiting good judgment of when to escalate issues to colleagues and supervisors;
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills;
Strong attention to detail;
Proficiency in the use of software, including Google Workspace products, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel;
Willingness and ability to develop proficiency with unfamiliar digital tools and platforms.
Desired:
Prior experience handling or reviewing legal or law enforcement documents
A sense of humor, enthusiasm for technology, and desire to learn about Twilio’s products and service
A short (no more than one page!) cover letter describing why you are interested in the position.
Location
This role will be remote, and based in Japan.
Travel
