Animation Lead - Monopoly GO!
Scopely is looking for a Animation Lead to join our Monopoly GO! game team in our Culver City studio hub, or remotely within the US or Canada!
This person will lead and manage other animators, create animatics, transitions, 2D and 3D animations and VFX, UI animations, character animations, and more. They will steward the animation vision and quality and work with Tech Artists, UI artists, UX designers, and Engineers to create industry-leading mobile game animations and memorable player experiences.

What you will do
Work with the Animation Director and Art Director to help set and push the animation quality bar and express storytelling through in-game animations
Understand animator workflow and provide technical support for the efficient production and implementation of high-quality animation
Work with engineers, animators, and technical artists to define, maintain, and improve animation tools and pipeline
Help drive an art culture that engages talent, maximizes team potential, and encourages proactive cross-discipline collaboration to deliver the best possible player experience
Art Management responsibilities; performance reviews and goal management for Senior and/or Mid-level animators
Give feedback on animation created by internal artists and external co-developers or outsourcers
Contribute to POD level planning for product/production
Identify inconsistencies and opportunities for improvement within the creative process in POD level
Create documentation related to the different features of the game
Help ADs in maintaining art team health
Serve as an active participant in team art discussions, critiques and reviews
Ability to work with production to ensure timely completion of animation tasks
Ability to work collaboratively with the narrative, design, and art team
Be part of the hiring process for new animators ensuring that each person fits perfectly within the team
What We're Looking For
2+ years of experience as a Lead animator..
7+ years of professional experience creating animations for games (Maya preferred)
3+ years of experience with technical implementation of animations in UI and feature development in Unity
Expert hand-key animation skills and deep knowledge of animation fundamentals
Experience with real-time particle and VFX-based animations
Excellent communication, collaboration, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Excellent time management and work discipline
Online Portfolio demonstrating animation art skills and technical art skills such as rigging, vfx, etc
Understanding of character development, visual storytelling, and conveying narrative through animation.
Experience in giving feedback and mentoring
Experience with game feature development, player experience, story, creating previz. (proficiency in After effects, Photoshop, Animate, etc.)
Mobile games experience
Nice to have
Additional proficiency in drawing, texturing, and modeling is preferred
Knowledge of Jira
For candidates in CA, CO, NJ, NY, and WA, the annual salary range is provided below. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for equity, bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare benefits, retirement benefits, pet insurance, paid holidays, paid Scopely free days, and unlimited paid time off. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
