3D Operations R&D Specialist - 'Chief Architect' (CAD)
We’re seeking a 3D Operations Research and Development Specialist, with a focus on Chief Architect, to join our team and play a key role in making the “magic” happen for customers of Canvas. Every day, our customers scan homes and upload those scans to our Scan To CAD service, which processes that data into CAD files, 2D drawings, and BIM models in various formats. Our customers frequently refer to Canvas as their “easy button for as-builts,” and you will be responsible for driving testing, process optimizations, and bringing innovative solutions to our operational pipeline.

Key responsibilities:
Oversee the testing and analysis of new technologies and methodologies to enhance our modeling processes.
Develop test plans and deliver reports on research findings and project progress to senior management and cross-functional stakeholders.
Develop and implement strategies for process improvement and optimization in the production of 3D CAD models.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate innovative solutions into the existing operational pipeline.
Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in 3D modeling and LiDAR technology.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Architect (or similar) specializing in Chief Architect
Subject matter expertise with 3D architectural software, specifically Chief Architect, and associated reconstruction processes, tools, and workflows.
Understanding of 3D reconstruction leveraging point clouds or textured mesh.
Understanding of current industry plugins and best practices for 3D reconstruction using Chief Architect.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (upper-intermediate level or higher)
Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to manage multiple competing workflows / priorities
Strong familiarity with the Google suite of tools (e.g. Gdocs, Gsheets, etc)
Bonus Experience:
Experience with other 3D modeling programs (e.g. Revit, Sketchup, and/or Archicad)
Experience with software development or software acceptance testing
Experience with 3D data models (e.g. .IFC, .RDF, JSON)
Experience in leading 3D modeling or architectural teams
Basic knowledge of Jira and Confluence
Advanced English language proficiency
