Bioinformatics Software Engineer

Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Bioinformatics Software Engineer to support the development and deployment of bioinformatics workflows and web-based applications. You will contribute to software development, cloud-based pipeline implementation, and integration of genomic data in a CLIA-compliant and HIPAA-secure environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Implement and maintain bioinformatics workflows using Docker and AWS services
· Contribute to agile development of web applications and pipelines (Django, React, Next.js)
· Assist with QMS and compliance efforts for CLIA, HIPAA, and ISO standards
· Support cloud-based deployments and secure data handling practices
· Participate in integration of genomic data sources and reporting tools
· Collaborate with developers, scientists, and clinical team members to meet project goals
Technical Requirements:
· Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting
· Experience with Django/Django REST Framework and modern web technologies
· Familiarity with AWS services such as S3, ECS, Lambda (or willingness to learn)
· Basic understanding of bioinformatics tools and NGS pipelines (Nextflow a plus)
· Familiarity with genomic databases like ClinVar, PharmGKB, or similar
· Strong interest in genomic medicine and software development best practices
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's or master's degree in bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related field
· 1–3 years of relevant experience (internships and research projects considered)
· Strong communication and teamwork skills in remote or distributed teams
Compensation:
Base salary range: $50,000+ USD annually, depending on experience. Equity or stock options may be offered as part of the total compensation package.
