We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help manage, expand and oversee our rapidly growing portfolio of federal contracts.
What you'll be doing:
You’ll build and maintain secure, high-traffic backend services that support critical Veteran-facing features. Your work will focus on modernizing legacy components, developing and refining REST APIs, supporting identity and access workflows, and integrating with multiple VA enterprise systems in a large-scale environment. You’ll contribute to containerized deployments, troubleshoot complex backend issues, and collaborate closely with engineering, product, and operations partners to deliver stable, maintainable, and scalable backend functionality.
What you’ll bring:
6+ years of backend engineering experience with Java and Spring Boot/Spring MVC
Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs
Familiarity with SQL databases (Oracle preferred) and ORM frameworks such as Hibernate/JPA
Exposure to microservices concepts and distributed systems
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or similar containerization platforms
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
Ability to troubleshoot, debug, and optimize backend systems across multiple integrations
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to contribute to technical discussions
Experience working in Agile environments with Git-based workflows
Performs other related duties as assigned
Bonus Qualifications:
Experience working on VA.gov or major VA platform integrations.
Familiarity with SSOe, SAML, OAuth, or enterprise identity systems.
Exposure to Cerner/Oracle EHRM integrations or healthcare data flows.
Knowledge of Blue Button or personal health record systems.
Experience with federal health programs or working in a government contracting environment.
Requirements:
