This entry‑level professional specialist supports the payroll function for the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region by assisting with end‑to‑end payroll processes across approximately twelve countries and supporting timekeeping globally and timecard processing for the United States. This role gathers and verifies payroll and time‑tracking inputs, reviews calculated results, and supports accurate, timely payroll execution in compliance with local country regulations. This specialist protects Compassion's financial integrity by ensuring tax registrations in various agencies as well as full compliance with regulatory issues such as local taxes and unemployment insurance requirements. Responsibilities include conducting payroll and timecard variance reviews, supporting government and regulatory filings, maintaining accurate payroll and timekeeping data, and responding to employee questions related to pay, taxes, and time reporting. At this level, the specialist is still learning regional payroll and U.S. timekeeping requirements and generally works under the guidance of a supervisor or more experienced team member.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur.

Regional Payroll Support (LAC)

  • Supports the collection, validation, and maintenance of updated payroll data for each country in the LAC region for every pay cycle.

  • Assists in reviewing payroll results, performing audit checks, and preparing variance reports for each country before payroll approval.

  • Helps ensure payroll processes follow all applicable local regulations, including tax, social security, and statutory requirements.

  • Supports preparation and submission of required payroll‑related filings with government and regulatory agencies across the LAC region.

  • Maintains accurate documentation and payroll records for each country.

  • Assists in researching and resolving payroll discrepancies by working with Finance, P&C, Benefits, and Systems teams.

  • Provides frontline support to employees in the region by answering payroll and tax‑related questions.

U.S. Timekeeping & Timecard Support

  • Processes, reviews, and audits U.S. employee timecards each pay cycle to ensure accurate and timely submission for payroll processing.

  • Reviews U.S. time‑tracking data for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with organizational policies and legal requirements.

  • Conducts variance reports for U.S. time reporting to identify discrepancies such as missing entries, overtime exceptions, or unusual patterns.

  • Supports employee inquiries related to Workday time tracking, timecard corrections, timesheet policies, and general timekeeping requirements.

  • Collaborates with People & Culture (HR), Supervisors, and Systems teams to correct time entries, resolve exceptions, and ensure proper alignment with payroll processing.

  • Helps maintain accurate timekeeping documentation and supports audits involving U.S. time‑reporting compliance.

General Responsibilities

  • Supports periodic audits of payroll and timekeeping data.

  • Helps implement process improvements for efficiency, compliance, and data accuracy.

  • Ensures that payroll‑related and timekeeping‑related systems and processes follow organizational policies and applicable laws.

  • Assists with system updates by providing country‑specific and U.S. timekeeping details for configuration needs.

  • Maintains accurate, auditable payroll and timekeeping records.

Requirements

Culture

 Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.

 Language

  • Advanced English and Spanish speaking, reading, and writing required.
