About SciLeads:

SciLeads is a fast-growing, remote-first SaaS company helping reshape how scientific companies do sales and marketing. With over 90 people across the UK, Canada, and beyond — and plans to grow to 150+ in the next two years — our culture of openness, flexibility and innovation drives everything we do.

We’re an award winning company, and have been listed as one of Deloitte’s fastest growing tech companies for four years in a row. We are passionate about putting people first and committed to creating an outstanding employee experience as a remote working company.

We’re building a world-class team to support our next phase of growth, and we’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Head of People who can spearhead the function, inspire the team, and deliver on the critical initiatives that will make SciLeads an outstanding place to work.

About the Role:

As Head of People, you’ll take full ownership of the People function — driving a team of three and driving the delivery of both strategic people initiatives and day-to-day HR operations. You’ll work closely with the executive team to shape a high-performing, inclusive culture while ensuring strong execution across recruitment, onboarding, performance, development, compliance, HR Operations, and engagement.

You’ll also be the internal owner of our HRIS system (HiBob), helping us scale its use as the central platform for people data, workflows, and knowledge-sharing across the employee lifecycle.

This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, scale-up environment and enjoys rolling up their sleeves while influencing at the leadership level.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development

  • Manage, coach, and develop a high performing People team to deliver on agreed objectives.

  • Contribute to the leadership team by bringing people insight and challenge to strategic conversations

Key Initiatives (Year 1 Focus)

  • Define and deliver a scalable People Strategy that supports the full employee lifecycle from attraction, recruitment, development, retention and off-boarding

  • Work in partnership with senior members of the business to design and implement a performance management framework that fits our scale and culture

  • Create and launch a high-impact learning and development programme for managers and high-potential talent to enhance our culture of continuous improvement

  • Conduct a full benefits review and direct improvements that support retention and engagement

  • Define and track key people metrics such as eNPS to inform decision-making and track progress

Ongoing Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement across each stage of the employee lifecycle, ensuring processes remain efficient, engaging and aligned to the evolving needs of the business and its people

  • Oversee compliance with employment laws in the UK, NI, and Canada — including working closely with external advisors, especially across Canadian provinces, overseeing engagements with Employer of Record (EOR) providers, and managing compliance for remote contractors.

  • Supervise the preparation of UK and Canadian payroll input sheets, ensuring accuracy and identifying opportunities to delegate or automate

  • Own and continuously enhance our HRIS (HiBob) to drive automation, streamline workflows, and improve documentation, reporting, and people data across all HR processes

  • Champion culture and engagement across a fully remote team

  • Develop policies and people processes that scale with the business

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years in progressive People/HR roles, including experience managing and developing a team

  • Proven ability to operate at pace in a scale-up or fast-growing environment

  • Strong influencing skills — you’re comfortable challenging and supporting senior members of the business

  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering initiatives across recruitment, performance, learning and development, engagement, well-being, compensation and benefits, organisational design and development, and strategic resource planning

  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and known for your follow-through — you thrive in the detail and strive for clarity and completion in everything you do

  • Operationally strong — experienced in HRIS systems (ideally HiBob), compliance processes, and payroll workflows

  • Comfortable using modern collaboration tools (like Slack, Notion) to streamline communication and processes

  • Experience supporting globally distributed teams with sensitivity to different working styles and cultural norms

  • Skilled in using data and systems to improve processes, efficiency and decision-making

  • Based in the UK or Ireland with the right to work

Benefits:

  • Fully remote working.

  • £750 home office allowance.

  • £200 personal development allowance.

  • Private Healthcare.

  • Pension scheme.

  • 25 days holiday plus public/bank holidays.

  • A day off for your birthday!

  • Women in Business NI Membership.

  • A truly flexible working culture.

  • Quarterly meet ups.

  • Virtual office to hang out with colleagues.
