Director - Product Design
The Director of UX focuses on empowering our customers to build their brand awareness through personalized experiences, strategic content distribution, and intelligent brand management - all optimized for today’s evolving LLM landscape. As the Director of UX you’ll define the future of our brand offering for marketers. Your mission: help HubSpot’s customers amplify their expertise and be seen everywhere. You’ll own the end-to-end experience across Brand Identity, AEO, Web Content, Media, Social & Ads, and Brand Reporting, transforming product complexity into simple, trustworthy, and powerful user experiences.
The Challenge:
Solve for the Unknown: You will own the design for a new product space from the ground up, moving from high-level concepts to shipped, market-defining products.
Design for Complexity at Scale: You must successfully design in incredibly complex, technical situations, creating solutions that are powerful in the backend but appear simple for the user
Drive AI Innovation: The product must be designed with an AI-first strategy, requiring you to lead the vision for new, seamless experiences incorporating generative and assistive AI workflows.
Responsibilities:
Set and Execute the Design Vision (Autonomously):
Define and own the entire end-to-end design strategy for the new product line translating complex business needs into a clear, unified product experience.
Drive the product's AI-first strategy, championing and designing for modern, generative AI-based interactions and workflows.
Turn complexity into clarity, leading the design for incredibly complex, technical workflows and ensuring the user experience is simple and trustworthy.
Leadership and Team Scaling (Owned):
Lead, mentor, and scale the UX team, providing design oversight for 2 Design Managers, a Staff Designer, a staff UX researcher and 11 cross-functional teams across 3 groups.
Foster a culture of experimentation and iteration within the team to drive rapid progress in a 0-1 environment.
Cross-Functional Strategy & Influence (Collaborative):
Collaborate deeply with key cross-functional partners, including your Engineering Partner (based in Ireland) and your Product Management counterpart (potentially based in Europe or East Coast USA), to co-own the product strategy.
Influence and align stakeholders across a large organization to drive change and secure support for your design vision.
Qualifications:
Strong Product Craft & Visual Design Skills: Must possess deep product design experience, with an undeniable, demonstrable strength in visual and interaction design.
AI Fluency: Proven experience designing AI-based interactions, workflows, and developing product strategies with an AI-first mindset.
0-1 Leadership Experience: Proven ability to lead the design of new products in a highly ambiguous, undefined environment.
Dealing with Complexity and Scale: Experience successfully managing the complexity and scale inherent in designing for large, technical, enterprise-level product organizations.
Product-First Background: Experience working specifically in product design, not solely brand or marketing design.
Desired Attributes (What Will Help You Stand Out)
Technical Acumen: High degree of technical fluency that enables effective partnership with engineering leaders on complex system design.
Influencing Large Organizations: Exceptional ability to drive consensus, align diverse stakeholders, and influence product direction at the executive level.
Experimentation Mindset: A mindset focused on rapid prototyping, iteration, and using data to guide the evolution of early-stage concepts.
